Ši nuotrauka bus vienintelė, kurioje tiek daug aplink naująjį kryžių išsimėčiusiuose kaimuose gyvenusių ar tebegyvenančių gyventojų.

Karužų ir aplinkinių kaimų gyventojai kalba, kad vieta kelių į Rudaminą ir Naująją Kirsną kryžkelėje, kur dabar pastatytas naujasis kryžius, yra ypatinga, mistiška. Šioje vietoje pastaraisiais metais yra žuvusių ar netikėtai mirusių žmonių. Staigios, beprasmės jaunų žmonių mirtys lanko ir Karužų kaimą... Kai kurie gyventojai teigia, kad visa tai prasidėjo po to, kai iš akiračio dingo čia ilgus dešimtmečius stovėjęs kaimo kryžius. Tiksliau – jis tebestovi ir dabar, tačiau jau vos gyvas, mišku apėjęs, ne visiems matomas. Tik akyli praeiviai arba tie, kas žino, kur jo reikia ieškoti, pamato jo kontūrus tarp pušų, kurios tarsi tyčia šalia jo užaugo, tvirtai parėmė, surakino kryžių savo šakomis. Neleidžia ir dar ilgai neleis jam nugriūti.

Miške dingusį kryžių savo prisiminimuose nuolat minėdavo ir vienas Rudaminos kaimo gyventojas. Dievas jam davė nugyventi daugiau kaip 100 metų. Nors Dievu, kaip pats sakydavo, niekuomet netikėjo. Buvo laisvamanis. Tačiau yra prisipažinęs, kad, keliaudamas pėsčiomis iš darbovietės Lazdijuose (nes jokių autobusų tuomet dar nebuvo), vėlų vakarą jis sustodavo prie šio kryžiaus. Ne, nesižegnodavo, tik paglostydavo jį. Ir tik mintyse pakartodavo ant jo užrašytus žodžius „Viešpatie, atleisk“... Buvo sunkūs pokario metai ir Dievo užtarimo prašydavo net netikintys žmonės...
